The goal of this Wiki Space is to raise awareness to the idea that women enjoy sex as much or more than male-counterparts and that we can make it MORE socially acceptable.
Society has created a manifesto that claims female sexual desire is fundamentally different from male desire. Because women are seen as objects of sexual fantasy and are repressed in society, it makes it difficult for society to also conceptualize women as subjects. Women crave sexual pleasure too! There’s a growing prudishness amongst political leaders who refuse to make mature adult decisions concerning women’s sexual health. Because of this women shy away from exploring sexual interests and fulfilling their yearnings towards sex. Our culture describes women who have multiple partners as negative influences and the fact that women believe these notions is the problem. Women have a more harsh history of oppression, but these acts are still of concern today as we still live in a misogynistic society, hence why sex is considered an acceptable deviance for men.

Action: I plan on presenting my ideas in an educational program here on the SUNY Canton campus where hook-up culture is prevalent. I will set-up a station where I can present men and women with the ideas surrounding the fact that women like sex too! Women shouldn’t coward away from enjoying sexual encounters with a steady partner or in a casual manner due to the pressure that society has put on them. Also, women have the choice to objectify themselves and be empowered by doing so, and that there’s healthy ways to do so without being degraded by society.
